What are your User Avatar Guidelines?

There are a number of ready-to-use Avatars available to those registered on our site. These are small image files that show animals, various sorts of fictional characters, abstract designs, etc. During the registration process the user is asked to select one from those available (approximately 300). This acts as their face associated with any content (Group Topic posts, etc.) they create. It is also visible in user lists, such as those showing who is a member of a group and Profiles.

Those assigned more permissive Roles may upload their own unique Avatar through their personal Profile at some later point. Simply click on the My Account link in the Navigation menu, then choose EDIT in the tab menu area showing in the center. Use the BROWSE button in the Avatar area to locate the image you wish to use and then save your updated Profile.  Keep in mind that such an Avatar may not contain a logo or other self-promotional material; nor may they be animated. If it is larger than the size permitted, it will automatically be resized after upload.

In this way, we hope to ensure each person's Avatar is unique, so as to help distinguish individuals from others during conversations. Those having trouble uploading a personal avatar should contact us for assitance if needed.
