Always read the End User License Agreement (EULA) before downloading anything to ensure restrictions - whatever they may be - are understood. This is particularly true in the case of image files, where the artist has often placed limitations that must be followed.

Free Software

• Notepad++ - Totally free (open source) source code editor program with lots of bells and whistles included a color coded syntax assistance.
• FileZilla - Totally free (open source) FTP client for moving files between your machine and the destination web server.
• XAMPP - Totally free (open source) web development environment that - within one install - provides support for PHP and MySQL amongst other things.

Free Images

• Digital Scrapbooking - Offers excellent free images that can be used as stamps through Techsmith's SnagIt. (SnagIt itself is not a free program, though Techsmith does offer a free trial.)
